Is it time for Pato to move on?

The end is near. After years of promise, disappointment and then frustration tinted with sadness in failing to live up to expectation, Alexandre Pato’s journey with Milan looks to be drawing to a close.

On Wednesday, La Gazzetta dello Sport claimed that a 15-million euro deal was all but agreed to, with Milan CEO Adriano Galliani confirming the move was proceeding quickly. “The meeting went very well, but the negotiations are still not complete. We’ll meet again in Sao Paulo at the start of the year,” he told reporters.

Having decided to not cash in last January when big-spending PSG offered 35 million euros for the 23 year-old, have Milan been guilty of mismanagement and ultimately a missed opportunity?

…For a club with such a rich legacy of acquiring stars of the Selecao, it is a real shame that ‘The Duck’ was unable to become a symbol of the club.

Yes, he had the ability to be a pillar on which the club rested in this new era, but his unreliability makes him expendable. With big names leaving this past summer, this was supposedly set to be the season he finally made his name at San Siro, yet six months later with injuries restricting him to just four league appearances, he is set for the exit door.
