Title a three-way battle: Ray Wilkins

Ray Wilkins believes Sunday’s first glimpse of the new Chelsea may not tell the whole truth of their title claims – and says City and United will be the Blues’ chief rivals in the race to be champions.

While Roberto Mancini can field the team that lifted the title for Manchester City in the Community Shield at Villa Park, opposite number Roberto Di Matteo is still seeking to work out the shape of his rebuilt Blues.

Of the team that won the Champions League in Munich in May, Didier Drogba, Salomon Kalou and Jose Bosingwa have already left Stamford Bridge to pave the way for summer arrivals Marko Marin, Eden Hazard and Oscar, with Florent Malouda and Michael Essien likely to exit before the transfer window shuts at the end of the month.

And former Chelsea and England skipper Wilkins, who expects a three-way dog-fight for the crown with the Blues competing with the champions and Manchester United, suspects the reality of what the Londoners have to offer will not become apparent for a few weeks yet.

Do you agree with Ray Wilkins? What about the Gunners? Let us have your feedback.
